Getting to Know Britt – Character Tag

Hey, guys!

I was nominated yet again for the challenge I moved to WP from tumblr, the one, which is kind of an OC tag, but a bit different, by Bee from Stories By Bee and Poses By Bee. She’s a good friend of mine and I like her story a lot. Currently, she’s on generation 2 and a bit on 3, following Jade Bell and still young quads. It’s definitely worth a read!

This time I think it’ll be fair to do it for Britt, since we’re only getting to know her, but she will be (and already is) an important character, as you can tell.

Here’s a shot of her that I set as my new avi and if you’re interested, you can check out some extra pics of her over at my tumblr. Here is the total of three pictures I took of her when I got distracted shooting for yesterday chapter. You can also check out the strengths and weaknesses tag I did for her a while ago.

And let’s get on with the tag!

Getting to know: Britt

► Name? ➔ Brittany Voss. It’s a wonder I still go by my father’s surname.

► Are you single? ➔ I’m in a relationship, but it’s not exactly official.

► Are you happy? ➔ Happier than I have been in a long time. But then I’m also a bit confused ever since I found out about my pregnancy. It… uh… didn’t really go according to the plan.

► Are you angry? ➔ Angry? No… We’re not pointing fingers here. It’s as much on me as it is on Ron.

► Are your parents still married? ➔ My parents? I’d rather not say. It’s a very tragic story. But no, they’re not. Marriage only lasts until death.

► Birth Place? ➔ Starlight Shores, but I spent most of my life in Bridgeport.

► Hair Color? ➔ Light brown.

► Eye Color? ➔ Green.

► Birthday? ➔ March 24th.

► Mood? ➔ Well, neither angry nor happy. Let’s settle on that.

► Gender? ➔ Stop looking at my excuse of boobs. Yes, I’m female.

► Summer or winter? ➔ Neither, actually. I really like fall or early spring, when it’s not too hot nor too cold for running. Both summer and winter are too extreme weather-wise for me.

► Morning or afternoon? ➔ Morning. I’ve always been an early bird and I’m most productive at this time of day.

► Are you in love? ➔ I’m pretty sure I am, but I’m ever so careful with labeling my feelings.

► Do you believe in love at first sight? ➔ Love? No. Attraction, yes.

► Who ended your last relationship? ➔ He broke up with me when my mom committed suicide. Said he couldn’t and wouldn’t try to date a girl with such baggage.

► Have you ever broken someone’s heart? ➔ I likely rejected a few guys in high school. Other than that, I don’t think so.

► Are you afraid of commitments? ➔ Afraid, not. But I’m picky with the ones I get steady with. I think you have to be if raised in a household like mine.

► Have you hugged someone within the last week? ➔ Sure, I have.

► Have you ever had a secret admirer? ➔ Likely more than one. I was quite popular in high school.

► Have you ever broken your own heart? ➔ I told myself it was my fault that Mom ended her life. It was very… damaging thinking for me.

► Love or lust? ➔ Love. Lust makes people do stupid things, or sometimes plain cruel.

► Lemonade or iced tea? ➔ Lemonade. Preferably homemade.

► Cats or Dogs? ➔ Cats. They are graceful, swift and intelligent.

► A few best friends or many regular friends? ➔ Many regular friends. If you just have a couple of best friends, you are more exposed, and it’s easier for them to take advantage of your trust.

► Wild night out or romantic night in? ➔ What about romantic night out?

► Day or night? ➔ Day. I don’t really like nights. They bring out my fears.

► Been caught sneaking out? ➔ I’ve never sneaked out, so no.

► Fallen down/up the stairs? ➔ No, I was taught to always keep my back straight and to watch my step.

► Wanted something/someone so badly it hurt? ➔ I wanted to wake up and realize that I only dreamed of Mom killing herself. Never happened.

► Wanted to disappear? ➔ When, as a child, I accidentally overheard my dad’s chat with another woman.

► Smile or eyes? ➔ Smile.

► Shorter or Taller? ➔ Well, I am taller than a lot of guys and they find it intimidating. So, I would say taller just to not have to worry about it.

► Intelligence or Attraction? ➔ In general or when choosing a partner? Because I definitely wouldn’t choose the biggest genius on the planet for my boyfriend if I didn’t feel attracted to him. However, as for me, I’d prefer to be intelligent.

► Hook-up or Relationship? ➔ I’ve never really been the one to do hook-ups.

► Do you and your family get along? ➔ What family? Because you can’t be asking about my dad. I found out about my half-sister about two years ago, but I guess we get along.

► Would you say you have a “messed up life”? ➔ Some have it worse. I’m not homeless or alone in the world.

► Have you ever run away from home? ➔ I have. But I didn’t have anywhere else to go to, anyway.

► Have you ever gotten kicked out? ➔ Sort of. After Mom’s death, my dad wanted me out of his life so much he even bought me a house.

► Do you secretly hate one of your friends? ➔ That would be hypocrisy. I like to think I don’t go as low.

► Do you consider all of your friends good friends? ➔ I don’t have many, but they’re all good people.

► Who is your best friend? ➔ I don’t think I have one.

► Who knows everything about you? ➔ You can never fully get to know the other person. The closest would be my mom, but she’s long dead.

Hopefully, it gives you more insight into her character. This time I won’t be tagging anyone, because I think most of the ones I talk to on here have already been tagged.

  1. Loved those answers! I thought they were very well thought out, just as I would expect her to answer them as she is very thoughtful that way. Always thinking that one. Thank you for the kind compliment on my story!

    1. Aw, I’m glad you like them! True, Britt really likes to reflect. And she’s much more mature than Ron, which really shows when you compare their answers. Np, you know I love your story!

  2. Ah, I liked these answers. I was intrigued by her answer to the friends question. I feel like so many characters (including my own) answered that they’d want few close friends, but not Britt. She seems to have a rather unique mind. 🙂 This was nifty!

  3. “Lust makes people do stupid things, or sometimes plain cruel.” I know that’s right.

It’s so sad how her mother committed suicide, but it’s even sadder that she blamed herself.

And through everything she’s endured, she is still able to see that there are others who have had it worse. That’s such a good quality.

    1. She speaks from experience… Her father cheated on her mother.
I know, it’s really sad, but I think she’s grown really mature and more balanced because of it. She had to grow up too fast. Which is why she’s such a contrast to immature Ron.
I also think that’s a good quality not many possess.

  4. This was so enjoyable to read! I really liked delving into Britt’s mindset. The thing I liked most about her was that even though she clearly suffered in her past, she tries to remain optimistic, grounded and with a clear head – that’s always admirable!
I really look forward to getting to know her even better! 😀

    1. I’m glad you like Britt! I think she’s very refreshing after Shari, and not only to Ron. We all needed a break after the drama she caused. I think it really helped Ron that she’s so reasonable and optimistic. If she was a pessimistic, she could never help him in his difficult situation after the loss of Becca!
Oh, and you will. I have plenty in store for Britt’s character development.

  5. I love these character tags, and getting deeper in to the mind of Britt. I can see that her mother’s death had a very profound impact on her life, yet she doesn’t let it dictate her life.
And I have to say that one thing that I enjoy from your character tags is that it really feels like an interview. You have a gift for sort of melding questions together to make the interview feel more natural. Less like a list of random questions.

    1. I’m happy you like them! I enjoy doing them and we didn’t know much about Britt at the time, so I was only happy to let you get to know her better. Of course, her mother’s death had a big impact on her life, but she managed to stay strong, which is why she really wanted to help Ron. Unfortunately, she’s quite experienced with all the bad stuff that has happened in her life.
Oh, I just go with the flow for these, but I’m glad you think I captured that feel of the interview they have to it. I know some even change the question, so it’s more of a whole. This one was already divided into categories, so it was easier.
